چکیده
Abstract. Information about the raindrop size distribution (RSD) is vital for comprehending precipitation microphysics, improving rainfall estimation algorithms, and appraising erosivity. Previous research has revealed that RSD exhibits diversity with geographical location weather type, which leads to assessment of region weather-specific RSDs. Based on long-term (2004 2016) disdrometer measurements in northern Taiwan, this study attempts demonstrate aspects summer seasons were bifurcated into two conditions, namely typhoon (TY) non-typhoon (NTY) rainfall. The results show a higher concentration small drops lower large-sized TY compared NTY rainfall, behavior persisted even after characterizing RSDs different rate classes. expressed gamma parameters mass-weighted mean diameter (Dm) normalized intercept parameter (Nw) values than Moreover, sorting these conditions (TY rainfall) stratiform convective regimes larger Dm empirical relations used valuation (Z–R, Dm–R, Nw–R) kinetic energy (KE–R KE–Dm) enumerated they exhibited profound between conditions. Attributions variability thermodynamical microphysical processes are elucidated aid reanalysis, remote sensing, ground-based data sets.

Northwestern Pacific typhoon intensity controlled by changes in ocean temperatures
Dominant climatic factors controlling the lifetime peak intensity of typhoons are determined from six decades of Pacific typhoon data. We find that upper ocean temperatures in the low-latitude northwestern Pacific (LLNWP) and sea surface temperatures in the central equatorial Pacific control the seasonal average lifetime peak intensity by setting the rate and duration of typhoon intensification...
متن کاملRainfall-enhanced blooming in typhoon wakes
Strong phytoplankton blooming in tropical-cyclone (TC) wakes over the oligotrophic oceans potentially contributes to long-term changes in global biogeochemical cycles. Yet blooming has traditionally been discussed using anecdotal events and its biophysical mechanics remain poorly understood. Here we identify dominant blooming patterns using 16 years of ocean-color data in the wakes of 141 typho...

that the actual prevalence of plague seems to be underestimated. The low population density in Mongolia explains the low amount of illness in humans. Further investigations should include the screening of rodent populations near the plaguepositive loci. In addition, fl eas and other parasites (and also predators of small mammals) should be studied. Mongolia is a key area of plague genesis and t...
متن کاملMelioidosis Outbreak after Typhoon, Southern Taiwan
From July through September 2005, shortly after a typhoon, 40 cases of Burkholderia pseudomallei infection (melioidosis) were identified in southern Taiwan. Two genotypes that had been present in 2000 were identified by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis. Such a case cluster confirms that melioidosis is endemic to Taiwan.
